Attendance.gov.in: Modi government launches website to track attendance of government employees
Using UIDAI, Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government has launched a Biometric Attendance System (BAS) for government employees. Attendance.gov.in has been launched to keep a track on the attendance records of employees.
Under the system, an organisation needs to register on the website. According to the website, "A back-end administrator will check the details of the organisation submitted and make the organisation active by assigning it a unique sub-domain which will be the first name of the website."
Aadhaar number is essential for registering an employee in BAS. The Attendance IDs of employees will be generated from their Aadhaar numbers. The 6 digit number will be generated based on the last 6 or first 6 digits of the person's Aadhaar number. The attendance ID will only be active when the employee's Aadhaar information has been verified by UIDAI and activated by the Nodal officer.
The employees will be required to enter their 6-digit Attendance ID on the terminal and subsequently the system will ask for finger print verification. The staff will be able to mark attendance in any bio-metric terminal installed in various Central Government buildings.

Since network connectivity is essential for marking attendance, the government is planning two types of connectivity with each attendance terminal; wi-fi on NICNET/broadband and SIM based GSM connectivity on tablets.
The system will not only help track the number of registered organisations and employees, but also give a dynamic interface to know the number of people attending office and the count of active devices.

Why Windows 10 Is The Best Ever OS
It is also very figurative that Microsoft has brought Windows 10 instead of Windows 9 after Windows 8. And if you are eager to note then here are the 5 reasons why Windows 10 will swing your mood pleasant as compiled by rediff.com
1. More than one desktop for multi-tasking
At times, one has to make use of multiple desktop screens to continue various tasks, to ease your efforts Windows 10 presents the Snap Assist UI that will help the users in grabbing applications from other desktops.
Windows 10 has emerged up with up desktop gaming concept where you can use wide array of programmes all at a time for long periods of time, surely this multi-tasking ability is one exclusive feature that you are going to love in Windows 10.
Windows 10 has emerged up with up desktop gaming concept where you can use wide array of programmes all at a time for long periods of time, surely this multi-tasking ability is one exclusive feature that you are going to love in Windows 10.
2. Great news for application developers
From now on, the users will have to intermingle with just a single Windows app store and not different stores for different devices.
One can modify user interface on the device that run on Windows 10, but can also use separate applications on them. You just need a single set of codes for targeting windows application on a personal computer to a full screen application on tablet or smartphone.
So, In comparison to Windows 8, this is a huge step towards advancement because in Windows 8 different apps had to be used for different versions: for instance start screen interface on Windows RT tablets and desktop environment for personal computers and Windows Phone smartphones.
3. Start Menu
What is the most common thing that troubled most of the windows 8 users was that it did not display the Start Menu.
And after a pretty long wait, Microsoft has decided to bring back the Start Menu. It helps the user to search almost everything on your PC; moreover the web results could be sought out here.
Users can check it out on the left hand and front of the user interface. When you click on the menu, it splits up in two columns. The first one includes app style icons and the other includes a traditional list.
4. Apt for businesses
The new Windows 10 is not only engaging the general users but it has its fascination among business too. It provides a platform where the enterprises from now on, can separate corporate data from personal data, thus providing them various levels of security.
This way it allows every businessman to keep his most important and secretive business information away from unwanted people.
5. Better command prompt
And it’s like a big bonanza time for the computer geeks, because Windows 10 improves the command prompt efficiency.
Command Prompt is a feature of Windows that provides an entry point for typing MS‑DOS commands and other computer commands. The most important thing to know is that by typing commands, you can perform tasks on your computer without using the Windows graphical interface.
If you are a computer expert or well acquainted with what to do with the 'Command Prompt', this is one of the finest features you will get in the new Windows 10.

“Writing letter is also an art. I have to write letter and have to write only the truth in it, and have to pour love, if with this thought you sit down to write the letter, then you will definitely write a beautiful one.”- Mahatma Gandhi (1869-1948)
Now it’s the era of email, SMS (Short Message Services) and MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service). Still the world of letters is unique. Gwalior born Hindi poet Girija Kumar Mathur (22nd Aug 1919-10th Jan 1994) wrote:
“Letter is like a personal newspaper at home
Support of the loner
It’s a sign of happiness
Love and friendship.”
“Meghdoot” of the greatest Sanskrit poet and dramatist Kalidasa (5th century AD), Nobel laureate (Literature, 1907) Rudyard Kipling’s (1865-1936) poetry “The Overland Mail”, Nobel laureate (Literature, 1913) Rabindranath Tagore’s (1861-1941) play “The Post Office”, Indian writer Mulk Raj Anand’s (1905-2004) book “Story of the Indian Post Office”, American singer and actor Elvis Presley’s (1935-1977) song “Return to Sender” have illustrated the glory of letters.
These random and sudden thoughts are coming to us on “World Post Day”. The day is celebrated globally each year on 9th October, which marks the anniversary of the establishment of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in 1874 in the Swiss capital, Bern. The Universal Postal Union was the start of global communications revolution, people could write to others all over the world.
It was declared as ‘World Post Day’ by the UPU Congress held in Tokyo, Japan, in 1969. Since then, World Post Day is celebrated all over the world to highlight the importance of the postal services.
The purpose of World Post Day is to raise awareness among common men about the role of the postal sector in people’s and businesses’ everyday lives and its contribution to the social and economic development of countries. The celebration encourages member countries to undertake programme activities aimed at generating a broader awareness of their Post’s role and activities among the public and media on a national scale.
Every year, above 150 countries celebrate World Post Day in a variety of ways. In certain countries, World Post Day is observed as a working holiday. Many Posts use the event to introduce or promote new postal products and services. Some Posts also use World Post Day to reward their employees for good service.
In many countries, philatelic exhibitions are organized and new stamps and date cancellation marks are issued. Other activities include the display of World Post Day posters in post offices and other public places, open days at post offices, mail centers and postal museums, the holding of conferences, seminars and workshops, as well as cultural, sport and other recreational activities. Many postal administrations issue special souvenirs such as T-shirts and badges.
With the support of massive network, the reach of the Postal department is in every corner of the world. The development of postal service took place rapidly in all the areas of the world since 1st half of 20th century. It seems to us that Post is nothing but “The other name of extreme trust” of the common people.
On this auspicious day, it is time to think and work as per the terms of Ex-Communication Minister:
“How we can serve the consumer best, this should be the highest duty of every Post and Telegraph worker. Frugality is essential but it should not be at the cost of work ability.” (3rd May 1971, Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna(1919-1989))
Again according to Gandhiji, “For us every consumer is an important person. He is not dependent on us. We are dependent on him. He is the purpose of our work…We do not oblige him by doing his service. He obliges us by giving us the opportunity to serve.”

Home Ministry raises concern over use of Aadhaar as address proof
The Home Ministry has raised multiple concerns over using UIDAI number as an address proof in the DoT's proposed online verification system, saying the supporting data in Aadhaar may not be authentic or genuine.
The Home Ministry said that 'Aadhaar' is strong on ensuring unique identity, "however, uniqueness of identity is not a necessary condition to ensure authenticity of identity or genuineness of other entries or records of Aadhaar number", sources said.
The ministry has written to the Department of Telecom (DoT) sharing its view on accepting Aadhaar as valid proof of address for e-KYC (Know Your Customers) programme.
The Home Ministry has raised concerns over supporting documents submitted by people as proof of identity and proof of address for getting a Aadhaar number, a source said.
The DoT is working on proof of concept (e-KYC) to use Aadhaar number for online verification of people seeking mobile connections along with existing process of customer verification.
Aadhaar card can be also issued to foreign nationals staying in the country, which has also been questioned by the Home Ministry as nationals of neighbouring country may attempt to use it to procure Indian identity documents for infiltrating their agents.
The Home Ministry has said that unlike Aadhaar, other acceptable proof of address documents such as passport, driving licence do not have the status of universality and therefore "even higher levels of error in these documents may not translate into comparable volume of security concerns".
It said that Intelligence Bureau is neither aware of back-end systems, e-processing and e-auditing existing in Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), which issues Aadhaar, nor knows how data is transmitted between units of UIDAI and how data are stored.
The Home Ministry has also raised concern on involvement of foreign vendors by UIDAI for storing data and has suggested audit of data security.
Sources said that introducer system provision, under which people not having supporting documents as ID and address proof can also get Aadhaar number if he is introduced by a person owning a Aadhaar number, has been questioned by the Home Ministry.
